Overview
Having majored in philosophy and entering the world of ceramics at a later age, Seon Ui-mi used to focus on using kilns for a natural ceramic-making process that forgoes glazing. Afterwards, she made a career transition by turning her attention to white porcelain, which is opposite to natural ceramics. Having experienced contrasting creative processes that require different emotions and impose unique limitations upon the artist, Seon adds her rich visual style to her works as she deliberately adds scratches and circular shapes of different sizes to the finished products. The whole process is painstaking, as she must take heed in preventing any ounce of impurity being added to the finished products during her openwork. Her arduous labor gives birth to her “Aroma” series, which consists of incense storage and various accessories. Seon’s works are beautiful art objects that can be used for various purposes.
