Donong Pottery is a unique name that In Hyeon-sik’s calligrapher father gave to his son so that he would continue working like an honest farmer. Staying true to the name, In develops his craftsmanship with patience, focusing particularly on the making of white porcelain that involves detailed process of eliminating impurities. Among his works, the “Tea Filter With a Silver Handle Set,” selected as an Excellent Cultural Product in 2017, combines porcelain and silver. The design of the tea-filter is based on the shapes of flower, clover, and cloud; the color of the filter’s handle also changes with time due to the nature of silver. There is a small hanger behind the handle, which makes using the filter for making tea very easy. Another product by In, the plate series, employs a simple square design with a depressed engraving.
