Overview

A luxurious yet refined Korean aesthetic runs through Korea’s representative cultural heritage that includes palaces, hanbok, palace food, and others. The VIIN Collection, taking its name from the Korean word that indicates the Queen of the Royal Court, creates patchwork blankets and decorative pillows that reflect Korean aesthetics. Kang Geum-seong, the designer behind these creations, reflects her vision and knowledge in her craftsmanship. As the fourth generation of her family from Andong, North Gyeongsang Province, she learned the knowledge and skills of her ancestors. With ceaseless dedication, she pays meticulous attention to every step in her craftsmanship—from selecting good ingredients (artisan-made ramie cloth and naturally dyed cloth) to finishing the stitching process by working hand-in-hand with her veteran co-workers in the studio. The VIIN Collection carries many works that contain the traditional Korean color spectrum in accordance with the principles of yin-and-yang and Five-Elements that keep bad karma at bay and draw in fortune. Nonetheless, all these works are different with unique styles. All handicrafts and patchwork quilts, individual in style and fashionable, have different color combinations and spatial arrangements.
