Overview
Produced in Jeolla and Hwanghae Provinces from the mid Joseon Dynasty, Leegangju is one of top five prestigious drinks in Korea. Its historical records are found in books called Gyeongdojapji and Dongguksesigi. This is a high-class medicinal soju enjoyed by the upper class from the time of King Seonjo. This liquor is highly praised in a number of old literature, and has got its name from its ingredients, “lee” meaning “pear” and “gang” meaning “ginger.”
